What are the next Steps?

After a business expresses interest, we'll guide them through the following process:

  1. Initial Discovery Call: We'll discuss your business needs and how we can help.
  2. Needs Assessment: Our team will identify the best programs or solutions for your business and any specific accommodations needed.
  3. Proposal Development: A customized proposal will be created outlining services and compliance details.
  4. Contract Negotiation & Agreement: We negotiate terms and secure signatures on the final agreement.
  5. Onboarding: As per our contract, we will execute steps to ensure the assigned staff understand the expectations of the business partner and the contract through a kick-off meeting. Anyone who was hired to work on the contract will undergo the VCB onboarding process as well as any onboarding process the business partner would require so that the staff member(s) will work as an extension of that business.
  6. Regular Check-Ins: To ensure smooth operations, we'll schedule regular check-ins and make adjustments as needed.

What regions does Valley Center for the Blind operate?

VCB is a California-based non-profit serving Fresno, Madera, Kern, Tulare, and Kings counties. We do not limit job seekers or business partners by location; remote opportunities are also an option.

What types of jobs does VCB look for?

Although we specialize in call center support, administrative support, 508 Compliance, kitting and/or light assembly, and document scanning services, we do not limit the type of employment. Jobs can be part-time, contract, or full-time. We accept jobs that can be done remotely or in person.

How do you match candidates to suitable job opportunities?

Our team works closely with both employers and individuals who are blind or have low vision to understand their needs and preferences. We then use our extensive network and expertise to match candidates with job opportunities that align with their skills, interests, and career goals. We have vocational assessments that help guide us to matching candidates to suitable roles.

What accommodations or adaptions might be needed for employees who are blind or have low vision?

Accommodations and adaption vary depending on the individual’s needs and the nature of the job. Examples may include screen-reading software, Braille displays, accessible document formats, and workplace orientation and mobility training.
